Healthy Snacks Malaysia

In this fit-conscious world, we live in, who isn’t on a diet at this very moment? I’ve tried the no-carb diet, the keto diet and the liquid diet, all failures due to my one habit that can never be stopped:

Snacking. (say this with a fiery burning passion)

What better way to reward yourself for completing that 30-minute HIIT workout or for not eating rice for dinner (what kind of Asian are you?!) than to just nibble on a small piece of chocolate… And by the time you know it, you’ve already finished up the whole chocolate bar.

A little wouldn’t hurt… right?

There goes your gains all down the drain (hey, that rhymes), might as well just finish up that bag of chips and a box of cookies you were keeping for cheat day while you’re at it.

HEY, stop that self-destructive habit, you! Listen up, Teh Talk has got your back with some locally-made Malaysian brands of healthy snacks tailored-made for us who dream of abs but also dream of some good ol’ sugary or sodium loaded snacks.

Goodbye, you horrid disgusting thing disguised as a snack!!

1. Love Earth

Beginning selling its products in 2011, Love Earth was one of the pioneers of Malaysia’s healthy snack game. Initially losing most of its starting capital due to a deceiving case, it seemed like the brand was destined to fail. But they pulled through and now supply to more than 500 outlets of supermarkets in Malaysia such as Aeon, Tesco, Village Grocer, Jaya Grocer & Hero Market. However, if you’re feeling slightly hermit (as we all do…), Love Earth also sells their products online!

Bestowing customers a large variety of snacks such as cereal, nuts, dried foods and even their own coffee powder (made with bamboo salt), customers will definitely be able to fulfil their snacking cravings in one go. My personal favourite is their Nutty Banananana! Granola, a delicious blend of rolled oats, bananas, pecans & walnuts.

The best thing is? It only goes for RM17.90 for 300g (online) which is much cheaper compared to other health brands. Do check out their other snacks and if you spend RM150 & above, you’ll get free shipping!

2. Signature Market

A healthy marketplace of all sorts, Signature Market was founded in 2014 where owners Edwin Wang & John Chen wanted to live a healthier lifestyle. Deferred by the high prices offered by then niche organic products in Malaysia, the duo decided to start their own brand which offered a more affordable price range.

Signature Market ensures each consumer that whenever they’re eating one of the many snacks offered by them, it’s made using 100% natural ingredients with zero preservatives. Also, upon making an order of their nuts trail mixes, I was informed that they were only going to ship out by order in 7-10 working days. The long waiting time was due to the fact that some of their products are freshly baked to go.

Apart from the usual array of nuts & granolas, Signature Market also offers homemade baked cookies like Matcha Walnut Crumble or even Sambal Biscotti.

They even have their own fruit spreads with no added sugar, perfect for those who can’t let go of toast during breakfast just yet.

Overall with the wide selection of healthy snacks & food available, we agree Signature Market is really changing the healthy snack game in Malaysia (Also free shipping over RM100!)

3. Rawsome

One of the hardest things while on a diet is definitely resisting the temptation of desserts. Whether it be ice cream or a slice of cake, there’s something so enticing about a sugary treat to end the night with. Rawsome understands that dilemma and they offer up a mean chia pudding healthy alternative.

Coming from a family with a history of diabetes, founder Elyn Pow was always wary of her sugar intake hence coming up with a guilt-free less sugar dessert but that still packs a pow (See what we did there?)!

Not just offering desserts, Rawsome also serves up healthy meals which you can actually order on Grabfood for the ones who hate searching for parking like us!

And yes, you can order the desserts too. Ah, a perfect balanced meal. Located in Uptown Damansara, TTDI, Bangsar, MyTown, BIG Publika and even Gleneagles Hospital, there’s really no reason for you to not drop by one of their outlets today to try one of their chia seed puddings.

4. Amazin’ Graze

No healthy snack of Malaysia list is complete without Amazin’ Graze. You’ve probably seen this name in the aisles of most big time local supermarkets or health stores. Honestly, the first time I saw one of their granolas while grocery shopping, I couldn’t tell that it was locally-made because its package was so well-designed that it may as well be an overseas product.

But it’s more than just good looks, Amazin’ Graze’s snacks are fresh, tasty & most importantly, nutritious so it’s no surprise they’re one of the top healthy snack brands in Malaysia.

Founded by three young women, Amy, Ching & Sabrina, all hustling in the corporate lifestyle when they decided to take a leap of faith one day to delve into the healthy food industry. And it certainly paid off. What used to just be a few flavours of granolas has turned into various assortments of flavours, nut mixes & nut butter.

Also for Christmas this 2019, they are currently offering specially-packaged healthy snacks such as Chocolate Peanut Butter fudge bites, Frosted Cinnamon nut mixes and Caramel Pecan & Almond Nut Butter!

Purchase from Family Grocer, BIG or Jaya Grocer or their website today.

5. Kravve

Here’s another marketplace to end this list. Owning a very inspirational story, it only gives more reason to support this online healthy food marketplace/bazaar. Founder & CEO, Yong Lin started Kravve to allow housewives like his mom, retirees, single mothers or inspiring home chefs to make additional income right from their kitchen.

So instead of offering products of one brand, there are multitudes to choose from, each brand bringing their own taste & zest.

Not just offering healthy snacks, we saw deli meats, sambal and even cooking condiments, all HOMEMADE

With a very user friendly website, there’s even a diet preference filter so whether you’re a vegan, an ovo-lacto vegetarian (someone who does not consume meat or fish but eats eggs & dairy products) or lactose-intolerant, Kravve has just the food product for you!
