Cronuts Malaysia: Top 4 Places To Get Them

desserts Malaysia

Have you ever thought of going on a date with your significant other or café hunting with your best friends?

I am that type of person who will always plan for short and cute hangouts with my loved ones. I love coffee dates, food hunting, taking photos and creating the best memories with them. The places I have chosen usually have good appetizers and desserts to fulfil my cravings. My favourites are always pastries and bread.

Croissants, tarts, pies, puffs. You name it. I have tried most of these foods and I can say that they are so amazingly scrumptious!

Have you ever heard of the word ‘cronuts’?

The Cronut is a hybrid pastry invented by New York City pastry chef Dominique Ansel in 2013 and it is a croissant doughnut! Shaped and tastes like a doughnut but the pastry is like a croissant. Cronuts in Malaysia are just like out of the norm. It is not easy for you to find it here.

Dotty’s Pastries and Coffee

best cronuts Malaysia

A cozy café with lots of plants, a combination of blue and woody interior design. That is just a perfect place for your date! The Italian vibe is just calming and makes you feel like you are in a café in Paris, with romantic music played in the café.

At Dotty’s you can also get anything other than pastries. Breakfast set, soup and salads, burgers, sandwiches. You name it. It satisfies your sweet and savoury cravings.

The main attraction here in Dotty’s, other than their scrumptious foods, their special ‘Salted Egg Yolk Cronuts’. This is one of the best cronuts you will ever get and famous cronuts in Malaysia, I can say.

There are three branches of Dotty’s Pastries and Coffee:

KLCG Confectionary and Bakery

where to buy cronuts

This hidden gem in the middle of Kuala Lumpur. You will have to focus and look around because the bakery is just a small shop lot.

I have never imagined a small shop lot could have perfect pastries and most importantly, cronuts! At a glance, this shop has a vintage vibe like you are in the 90’s. Trust me, it is Instagram worthy. Visit their Instagram; @klcgconfectionarybakery

They have different flavours of cronuts and you can always choose your favourite. You have a true Malaysian soul? The Imperial Durian Cronut is always the best. Feeling tropical? Exotic Mango Cronut is just for you.

Since they are in the middle of Kuala Lumpur, you don’t have to worry about going there because as soon as you drop off at MRT Taman Midah you can find cronuts nearby. It is just 150 meters away from the MRT station.

No 51, Jalan Midah 3, Taman Midah Cheras 56000

The Alley @ Stewart Lane, Penang

Have you ever been to Penang? The tourist heaven? Penang is not only famous for its Instagram-worthy streets and vintage vibes shop lots, you can also simply get traditional food and dessert cafes at the same place.

The Alley is not easily accessible or cannot be seen, I can say. You will have to get through the alley and it is next to Kuan Im Teng, one of the famous tourist spots in Penang. It is just a small café, with no fancy interior design but as you get in, it just feels like home. Close to heart, with the homey vibes. And not suggested for a big number of gatherings as it is just a small café.

It is unlikely to get something different in Penang but this is the place where you can buy the well-known hybrid pastry, cronuts. This place is famous for its sweet and savoury cronuts and churros.

Location

The Alley, 5 Stewart Lane

5, Stewart Ln, Georgetown, 10200 George Town, Penang

Business hours

Daily, 12pm to 12am

The Rolling Dough, Pahang

This industrial style café is somehow a hidden gem in Kuantan, Pahang. From the outside, you can see a lot of shop lots and if you see a black signboard with golden fonts, that is The Rolling Dough. This café does not have any fancy crowded interior as the tables and chairs are all wooden and some steel. Not too many colours and really is giving you calming vibes.

This café serves coffee, sandwiches, rice bowl, salad bowl, yoghurt bowl and most importantly, cronuts Malaysia! It is actually hard to find places that sell cronut and this café has it. They have three toppings that you can choose from which is the original cronut (icing cinnamon), cronut with green tea custard and cronut with salted egg yolk.

Location

The Rolling Dough Café,

4468, Lorong Alor Akar 15, Taman Mewah, 25250 Kuantan, Pahang

Business hours

Tuesday to Sunday, 10am – 6pm, 8pm – 11pm

Cronuts are actually not considered as common desserts in Malaysia that is why you are not able to find it from random bakeries. And so far, these are the best places for you to taste a crunchy, sweet and savoury cronut. Have fun exploring the best cronuts in Malaysia!
